'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through dA,
Not a troll was stirring, nor Grinch in his sleigh.
Deviations were hung in digital Galleries with care,
In hopes that +Favourites soon would be there.
The n00bs were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Daily Deviations danced in their heads.
And Fella in his 'kerchief, and spyed (https://www.deviantart.com/spyed) with his night-light,
Had just settled down to log-off for the night,
When over in the Forums there arose such a clatter,
Fella sprang back online to see what was the matter.
To the browser window he flew like a flash,

Felipe Cagno’s Long Journey to “The Lost Kids: Seeking Samarkang.”
by techgnotic (https://www.deviantart.com/techgnotic)
Many deviants know well…
…“The Lost Kids: Seeking Samarkand”, the 200+ pages graphic novel written and created by Brazilian storyteller FelipeCagno (https://www.deviantart.com/felipecagno).
What few know is the story of how it took him almost a decade to bring this story to the public between script re–writes, production setbacks and more than three years of working with a team of artists spread across the globe.
Although “The Lost Kid
So i almost always request critiques on my art, and i also get a lot of them too (thank you so much guys/galls) :D and i've noticed some critiquers have some misconceptions about critiques, their role, how to do it, etc.
Now i don't want to critique someone's critiuque, i rarely do that because people take it as being defensive about the art that is critiqued. So i'll just make this journal to hopefully inform/educate some of you about critiquing.
Do's
-If an artist requests critiques, and you have something to say about it then do use the critique widget to leave a critique. Don't critique in the comment's section though. I know some of y

SPLICE Create A Creature Contest Winners
After checking out all of the hybrid creatures that your amazing, twisted minds had to offer, the final three winners for the Splice "Create A Creature" Contest have been chosen.
We'd like to give a big THANK YOU to the director of Splice, Vincenzo Natali, for selecting the winners from the wonderful 25 Semi-Finalists and providing such thoughtful commentary. Thank you!
So what freaky, beautiful hybrid creatures came out on top? Check them out below!
Read Official Rules
This is stunning in its subtlty. A creature that I can believe in. One assumes it is embryonic, and yet its wispy umbilical chord looks severed. I would accept

Nuances of an Annual Ritual
Which brings us to each year’s communal celebration of the passing of our lifetimes:
New Year’s Eve
So what did you “actually get done” in the past year? How closer are you to a grand goal in life? An assessment is made and then the inevitable Step 2 of the yearly process is engaged, which is often a word for word repeat of last year’s Step 2:
The New Year’s Resolution
There seem to be two main strategies that emerge at this point of facing the New Year, a “brand new morning.” The lone wolf quietly acknowledges goals not ye

The importance of anatomy.
Understanding anatomy is crucial to many aspects of your art.
You'll notice that anatomy is essential for drawing. It becomes difficult to accurately draw a complex pose, or even a simple one, if you don't understand what's under all that skin or fur, or even bark. Knowing how everything fits together is important.
Once you notice where that certain muscle is, shading and form become much more accurate and more natural. Knowing why the nose and eyes fall where they do make it much easier to draw from memory, and nail that natural look you were going for.
Learning the anatomy of the subject you're going to draw
